The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday launched a social media “DP (display picture) campaign over the arrest of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case.

According to Delhi minister and AAP leader Atishi, all party leaders and volunteers have changed their profile picture on X (formerly known as Twitter), Facebook, WhatsApp, and other social media accounts with the one displaying Kejriwal behind bars. The picture also has the text ‘Modi Ka Sabse Bada Dar Kejriwal (Modi’s biggest fear is Kejriwal)’ written on it.

AAP launches social media “To spread Arvind Kejriwal’s message to every household, today AAP has launched a ‘DP campaign’ across the country on social media. Starting at 3 pm, all AAP leaders and party workers are changing their DPs,” Atishi said while addressing the media.

Atishi also urged people to join the campaign and change their social media account picture to “save the constitution and democracy” in the country.

Atishi said Kejriwal is the only leader in the country who can challenge PM Modi. “So he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate without any evidence just after the announcement of Lok Sabha polls. BJP has framed Kejriwal in a fake case and used the ED to put him behind bars. AAP launches social media Why is he (Arvind Kejriwal) incarcerated as soon as the election is announced?” the minister said.

AAP launches social media The Enforcement Directorate arrested Kejriwal on March 21 after his name was mentioned multiple times in the chargesheets relating to the excise policy case. The ED had summoned him nine times in the case, but he did not depose before the probe agency.

AAP launches social media According to the chargesheet, all the accused in the excise policy case were allegedly in touch with the Delhi CM to formulate the excise policy that resulted in undue benefits to them in return for which they paid kickbacks to the party.

The AAP leaders on Monday also decided to not celebrate the Holi festival as a mark of protest against their convenor’s arrest. “Holi is not just a festival, but a symbol of the victory of good over evil, a symbol of justice over cruelty. Today, every leader of Aam Aadmi Party is fighting this evil, cruelty and injustice day and night. This year, Aam Aadmi Party has resolved that we will not play with colours, we will not celebrate Holi,” Atishi wrote on X.

AAP launches social media Aam Aadmi Party leaders and workers on Monday changed the display pictures of their social media profiles with one that shows Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal behind bars to express solidarity with the party’s national convener arrested in the excise policy scam case.

The display pictures showing Kejriwal behind bars have the caption “‘Modi Ka Sabse Bada Dar Kejriwal’ (Modi’s biggest fear Kejriwal)”.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday launched the social media campaign, asking people to support it for saving the constitution and democracy in the country.

AAP launches social media At a press conference, Delhi minister and senior AAP leader Atishi said Kejriwal is the only leader in the country who can challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi and so he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate without any evidence just after the announcement of Lok Sabha polls.

She claimed the ED could not produce even “one Paisa” of evidence despite its two-year-long probe into the alleged excise scam.

Atishi alleged that the BJP and Modi want to crush Kejriwal and added that the AAP was waging a battle against “dictatorship” in the country. She urged people to join the social media DP campaign of the party saying saving the democracy and the Constitution was not just Kejriwal’s fight.

“This social media campaign will spread Arvind Kejriwal’s spark, his inspiration, to every household,” Atishi said, appealing to people to raise their voices against “dictatorship”.

The AAP leader alleged that Kejriwal has been arrested by the ED in a “fabricated” case.

“But I want to tell the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi that they are mistaken if they think Arvind Kejriwal is just one person. Arvind Kejriwal is an idea, and while you can put one Arvind Kejriwal in jail, thousands more inspired by him will emerge from across the country,” she said.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann replaced his profile picture on X and Facebook with the one showing Kejriwal behind bars. Several leaders of the party’s Punjab unit, including Harpal Singh Cheema, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Bram Shanker Jimpa and Dr Balbir Singh, also changed their profile pictures on Facebook.

Kejriwal was arrested by the ED in connection with the money laundering case linked to now scrapped excise policy of his government on Thursday last week. He is in the custody of the agency till March 28.
